I am a writer, researcher, and teacher.

I have been a shoe saleswoman, newspaper delivery girl, summer camp security guard, and restaurant cook.

Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and I hold a PhD in composition and rhetoric from the University of New Mexico. In my academic life, I explore how students transfer and adapt their knowledge for the various communities and networks they encounter through technology, social media, workplace writing, and professional disciplines. My approach to teaching is multi-model and rhetorically-based, with a dash of TED Talks, a hint of celebrity gossip, and a splash of discourse analysis.
